An Ontario spring classic. Will there be dry, dusty trails? Will there be traces of snow and some double track with little bits of single track on the ridge? No one knows until race week!
But we do know it will be a blast -- and the perfect start to your racing season.
XCMarathon 1: H2i Delayed to April 26

The short version: For safety reasons the H2i has to be moved from April 12 to Saturday April 26.

The longer version: We had a plan, we were almost there! The MOC trail crew and volunteers have been working daily since the big ice storm to clear the trails for the race. Most of the single track was done, and we had a plan to finish it this week, along with the double track and access roads, which have to be cleared for evac and medical response. But then another small dump of snow and wind plus freeze-thaw conditions have dropped more trees and mired equipment, making it impossible to finish the job in time for the weekend.

Moving a race date is never ideal and we apologize for the inconvenience, but as much as we hate to say it, safety comes first.
All registered riders will be automatically moved to the new day. If you would like to have your race entry as a credit for a future Substance Projects event instead, just send us an email and we will take care of it for you.

Thanks for your understanding as we attempt to get racing started after some challenging weather this spring.
Course
The bestest, awesomest single track trails that we can find with some passing room. MOC has been building trails since last year's Eager Beaver, so there will be new things to discover paired with the classics you love.
Distances
Kind of like those fancy restaurants that have "market price", we will figure out the distances when we know the trail conditions.
In the meantime, here are our goal times:
-
Full Marathon ~2:30-3 hours
-
Half Marathon ~1-1:30 hours
-
Sprint ~30-40 minutes

These are used at our discretion and are not at every turn, so keep your head up, or use your GPS.
First Aid
Odyssey Medical will be on site to take care of any first aid issues. If you or a rider near you is injured during the race call Odyssey Medical (on number plate) or report to one of the Aid Stations.
What bike can I ride?
Any mountain bike that is trail worthy and safe!
We've even had some people have a great day riding a gravel bike or fat bike. (Just keep in mind that with a gravel bike, you may feel the bumps at bit more.)
Substance Projects' Weather Guarantee
Weather is always challenging and can completely change a race. So we developed the Substance Projects 100% Weather Guarantee: We guarantee that 100% of the course will have weather.
If any section doesn’t have weather we will refund you that percentage of your entry fee upon proof there was no weather.
Whining Policy
We have a strict "No Whining" policy. If it was all easy and downhill then it wouldn’t feel like you accomplished anything!
Inclusive Race
These are races for everyone! In the spirit of equity and inclusion we celebrate difference and especially encourage those who have historically been excluded from sport.
See our Inclusion Statement on our About Us page.
Cancellation / Refunds
There are NO REFUNDS for those who can’t make it on race day or for cancellation of the event for any reason.
If the event cannot proceed, registrants will have their entry carried over to the re-scheduled date or have credit for another Substance Projects Event.
